Honors

Upon receiving 2007 DAR Medal of Patriotism:

"I am honored to be given such a great award. I just don’t know if I'm deserving of it.
If you compare me to the men and women who are in the pit of hell and fighting for the
freedoms that we hold dear, then it is easy to see that there are those more deserving than
me of a patriot award.  But if this award means that I love my country and I never miss an
opportunity to show that love in my actions, especially where our soldiers are concerned,
then I accept this award on behalf of all patriots." ~Daniel Rodriguez

2009: National Award Recipient: Freedoms Foundation

National honor recipients receive the George Washington Honor medal medallion. The foundations National Awards are awarded to those who promote, through words or deeds, an understanding of responsibly of citzenship and it's relationship to a free society

As much as Daniel Rodriguez may be well known for his singing, he is also tirelessly involved in numerous philanthropic and charitable events. It is for that work which we are honoring him.

Daniel has lent his time and talent to many benefit and fund-raising events for veterans, fire fighters, policemen and special causes like the Scoliosis Care Foundation and Ronald McDonald House Charities. He supports the USO, began a project, “Songs for Soldiers,” to provide CDs in USO care packages for troops overseas and has even volunteered at the warehouse to pack and distribute the packages. Daniel performed in Stamford, Connecticut, joined by Police, U.S. Marines, and prominent stars from World Wrestling Entertainment to support a special Toys for Tots event. These are but a few examples of his involvement in our American community.  http://www.ffvfbroward.org/singingPoliceman09.html

2008: Named as "Goodwill Ambassador" for Heart for Children Foundation

Daniel has been named as a Goodwill Ambassador for his support of the "Heart for Children"
foundation, based in Pretoria, South Africa. In conjunction with the foundation's sister organization in the Netherlands, his 2008 Holland Christmas tour, as well as a portion of his  CD titled "I Believe" produced in the Netherlands, go to benefit "Hart voor Kinderen."

"A portion of proceeds go to making a home and family environment for orphans in South Africa. During the concert series we gave CD's to those who signed up to support "Heart for Children" and we were successful. The support we received from patrons at the concerts will make it possible to build 3 houses in South Africa that will house up to 6 orphans and a matron each. The matron will be the care giver and the organization will be a partner in the development and education of the orphans and, with Gods help, they will grow to become a new generation of educated leaders in a land that holds many of our worlds treasures. Marla, Alexandra and I hope to visit South Africa this coming  year and find new ways to help in these wonderful projects." ~Daniel

2007: The DAR Founders Medal of Patriotism
June 2007, at Constitution Hall, Washington D.C. Daniel was honored to receive the DAR Ellen Hardin Walworth
Medal of Patriotism.

Letter received: This evening I had the distinct pleasure of hearing Daniel Rodriquez sing in person at Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C. As a member of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) for more than 30 years, I was stunned by his performance, the beauty of his voice, and the sincerity of his presentation. He certainly deserved the award he received tonight from our President General.

Although I had heard him sing on TV several times and already thought he was very talented, his performance tonight brought tears streaming down my face. Last night, I was on the same stage, singing as part of the All-American DAR National Chorus, and now, the next night, I sat in the audience with the chorus director, and listened to Mr. Rodriguez perform. Both I and the chorus director were in tears, and he certainly deserved the standing ovation that he received.

I was so inspired by his performance that I want to promote him and his talent whenever I can. Everyone should have a chance to hear him sing in person!

At the end of his performance, he asked us to email him if we wished, and we certainly would like to add our congratulations to him on his receiving the prestigious DAR "Ellen Hardin Walworth Founders Medal of Patriotism" tonight.   Sincerely, Sandra Thomas
